In a nervous game, São Paulo emerged victorious and secured a spot in the playoffs, also thanks to Arsenal de Sarandi, who beat The Strongest in Argentina. After a cagey first half in which neither goalkeeper had to make any saves, the home team got the advantage after a switch in position gave Osvaldo more space.
